Hi, my name is Leo! I’m an Entomologist, and I graduated from Colorado State University. I’m an insect identifier, Illustrator, science educator, children’s book author, and insect collector.
Museum work and Identification
I have experience working in museums with collections, mainly focused on insect identification and classification. I also do insect dissection and DNA analysis.
Insects Husbandry
I have long-term experience in both specimens (pinned and diorama) and insect husbandry. The husbandry includes many kinds of arthropods across different orders and families with a complete life cycle or breeding process.
Science Education
I spent years at the CSU bug zoo as an officer and volunteer for outreach education for children from elementary school to high school.
I’m a content creator with over 1.2 million followers on a video channel, mainly discussing insect science topics. I draw scientific illustrations of insects and insect parts for identification and education. I also make posters and unique designs of insects and other arthropods.
I’m writing a children’s book named “How to Find an Insect”(still a working title) under the publication of Beijing Science and Technology Publishing Co., Ltd.
I also got involved in an insect-themed video game named “Bugtopia” as Entomology Scientific Consultant.
